Day 3 - Emei Shan

Emei Shan 峨眉山 is about 40minutes away from Leshan, we reach there after our lunch around noon time.

We were brought to this nice 4 stars Emei Shan Grand Hotel to transit to our chartered bus to the top of the mountain.

In the hotel lobby. 普贤菩萨, this is what we will see on top of the mountain later.

This is our charted bus, cost us extra RMB100 each person, but it will bring us right in front of the cable car station and back. No need to Q and less walking distance. Otherwise we have to take the public bus at the main gate. However it's only available to foreigner, our poor guide assistance has to stay back here as they will need a valid passport to verify. So it's a easy decision to make.

Alright, this is the main gate of the mountain, also the visitor center.

One more shot

Everybody has to park their car and transit to the public bus here, we were lucky, we just board our personal bus, so no waiting and no Q :) Anyhow due to off peak, there are virtually no Q at the station :(

On the way up to the mountain

Here is the cable car station, can see snow? At >2000m height now.

Reaching the top. At >3000m above sea level....it's winter all the time despite we are in late March

Some souvenir stalls along the arrival hall

Stairway to the heaven

Directory so that you won't get lost, at time the place will be foggy and you barely can see more than 10m...so sign like these are very important.

It's not a bad idea to have a cup of hot & spicy instant noodle, it taste heavenly in this kind of weather. RMB8 if I remember correctly. You will need all the energy in such cold weather and thin air.

An ancient bell

White elephant statue, this is the guardian of the Buddha, they call it 吉象.

This is the 普贤菩萨 gold plated statue.

One more from side view

One more in wide angle

More Buddha shots

Buddhist temple

Some praying corner for the devotees

A door to the golden temple

Golden temple, this is the highest point of the main visiting site.

Behind this rail is >3000m free fall, so don't try this at home

Fantastics view around the mountain top, there are more temples and pagodas(about 300) around the mountain and it will take days to visit each one.

This has been the living and Buddhism practicing place of the Emei nuns for centuries

Exterior of our hotel at the Emeishan city

This is our hotel room for the night, although at 4 stars, this is among the nicest throughout our trip in term of comfort and service. Can order 2hrs in-room massage for RMB120

Some street shots of the Emei city
